20-Year-Old Woman Dies By Suicide In Rayasandra Over Husband's Affair

A 20-year-old woman died by suicide at her parents' house in Rayasandra, under the Parappana Agrahara police limits in Bengaluru, at around 1:30 AM on Sunday following repeated disputes over her husband's alleged extramarital affair.

The deceased has been identified as Sanika Gowda. She had married Sharan, a cab driver hailing from Chikkamagaluru, one-and-a-half years ago. The couple has a seven-month-old son.

According to the police, Sanika had repeatedly confronted her husband regarding his alleged extramarital relationship. A few days ago, following another argument over the issue, she left their home and moved to her parents' residence in Rayasandra along with her infant son.

Late Saturday night, after making a video call to her husband at 1:30 AM on Sunday, Sanika hanged herself inside a room. Her seven-month-old son was present in the same room at the time of the incident.

Sanika's parents alerted the police in the morning after discovering what had happened. Based on a complaint filed by her parents, the Parappana Agrahara police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against her husband, Sharan, who is currently absconding.
