Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and who else sees it. Last updated 7 September 2026.
Reading the site
You do not need an account to read Bengaluru Feed, and we do not ask for your name or email to do so.
- Analytics. We use PostHog and Google Analytics 4 to count page views and understand which stories people read. These set cookies and record your approximate location (from your IP address), device, browser and the pages you visit. We use this in aggregate, to decide what to cover.
- Stored in your browser. Your light or dark theme choice, whether you dismissed the neighbourhood prompt or an event banner, and, if you own a listing, a sign-in cookie named
feed_biz_owner. These stay on your device. Clearing your browser data removes them. - Server logs. Our CDN and server keep short-lived request logs (IP address, page, time, user agent) to keep the site running and to spot abuse.
The newsletter
If you subscribe, we store your email address and nothing else. We use it only to send the Bengaluru briefing. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete the address at any time.
Listing a business
If you pay to list a business, we store what you give us: your email address, and your business name, category, description, logo or photo, and optionally an address, map location, phone number and link.
Your business details are public by design. That is the point of the board. Your email address is not public: we use it to send your private manage link and payment confirmations.
We also count how many times your listing is viewed and how many times someone clicks through to your phone, website or directions. Those counts are attached to the listing, not to the visitor.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never reach our servers. We store only the amount, the time, and Stripe’s reference for the payment. Stripe’s own privacy policy governs what they collect.
Who else your data reaches
- Stripe, for payment processing.
- Resend, which sends our transactional email (manage links, payment confirmations).
- PostHog and Google Analytics, for site analytics.
- Cloudflare, which sits in front of the site to serve it quickly and block attacks.
- OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap, for map tiles and for address lookup when you place a pin. Your browser contacts them directly when a map loads.
- Google, because when a listing has no uploaded logo we show the icon from its website, which your browser fetches from Google’s favicon service.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.
How long we keep it
Listing details stay while the listing is on the board, and payment records are kept as long as we need them for accounting. Newsletter emails are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is kept according to each provider’s retention settings.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. Listing owners can edit or take down a listing at any time from the dashboard link we email you. Taking a listing down does not refund what you paid.

Children
This site is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change how we handle data we will update this page and the date at the top.
