Bengaluru Achieves 96.40 Percent Polio Vaccine Coverage as 11 Lakh Children Immunised

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) recorded an overall 96.40% coverage under the National Pulse Polio Immunisation Programme on Sunday, June 28, 2026. The health campaign was carried out across five corporations under the GBA, specifically Bengaluru East, Bengaluru North, Bengaluru Central, Bengaluru South, and Bengaluru West.

During the drive, a total of 11,06,535 children below the age of five received the oral polio vaccine drops. This turnout met 96.40% of the total target population of 11,47,872 children established for the five GBA corporations.

To support the immunisation effort, Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan administered polio drops to a child in Bengaluru on Sunday.

An analysis of the regional data shows that Bengaluru East recorded the highest coverage among the five corporations, achieving a 99.48% success rate. Bengaluru North followed closely behind, recording a 98.22% coverage rate.

The remaining three corporations also registered high participation rates. Bengaluru Central achieved 95.45% coverage, while Bengaluru South recorded 95.13% coverage. Bengaluru West recorded the lowest coverage among the five zones, finishing the drive with 94.34% of its target population immunised.

In total, the five corporations of Bengaluru East, Bengaluru North, Bengaluru Central, Bengaluru South, and Bengaluru West successfully administered the vaccine drops to 11,06,535 of the targeted 11,47,872 children under the age of five.
