BJP and JD(S) Form Coordination Committee to Strengthen Karnataka Alliance

On Friday, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) decided to establish a joint coordination committee in Bengaluru to strengthen their alliance and ensure smooth cooperation. The decision was reached during a meeting aimed at resolving internal conflicts and planning joint efforts against the ruling Congress government.
BJP State President B Y Vijayendra met with Union Minister H D Kumaraswamy of the JD(S) to hold detailed talks on the partnership. Following the meeting, Vijayendra emphasized the need for both parties to immediately announce the coordination committee to work with greater efficiency. He stated that working with increased coordination is necessary to challenge the Congress government, which he described as corrupt and anti-people.
The committee will feature prominent leaders from both political parties. Representing the BJP on the coordination committee will be Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka, and Vijayendra himself. From the JD(S) side, Vijayendra requested the presence of Kumaraswamy on the committee, alongside two other leaders from the JD(S).
According to Vijayendra, this joint committee will serve as an official platform to address and resolve any confusions or problems that might arise within the alliance. Kumaraswamy also stated that there is no confusion regarding the JD(S) alliance with the BJP.
In addition to forming the committee, the two leaders discussed their strategy for the upcoming bypolls in Dharwad and Hiriyur. During the discussions, the JD(S) expressed its desire to field a candidate from the Hiriyur constituency.
Vijayendra conveyed to Kumaraswamy that the BJP had previously won the Hiriyur seat, but noted that the party's central leadership would make the final decision regarding candidates. He added that the alliance must focus on winning both the Hiriyur and Dharwad seats without giving any scope for confusion.
