BSCC Chief Orders Evening Waste Collection and Yelachenahalli Transfer Station

On Friday, Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao directed Bengaluru South City Corporation (BSCC) officials to identify garbage-prone areas and deploy auto tippers for evening waste collection to tackle persistent disposal issues. During an inspection of various locations under the BSCC, including the Yelachenahalli area, the Chief Commissioner emphasized that cleanliness must be maintained at all times and instructed officials to prevent the roadside dumping of waste.
To address the specific waste management challenges in and around Yelachenahalli, Rao instructed officials to identify suitable vacant land on a priority basis. This land will be used for the construction of a new waste Transfer Station to streamline local garbage collection and disposal.
Rao emphasized that a permanent resolution to the city's garbage problem is only possible through active public participation. He appealed to local residents to volunteer and work in partnership with the Corporation to effectively eliminate waste management issues in their neighbourhoods.
As part of this collaborative effort, the Chief Commissioner urged residents to directly inform the Corporation whenever garbage accumulates in any locality or if auto tippers fail to arrive on schedule. He assured the public that upon receiving such information, Corporation staff will immediately visit the specified location and resolve the issue.
Furthermore, Rao called upon volunteers engaged in waste management to actively engage with the community. He tasked them with creating awareness among the public against dumping garbage on roadsides.
The Chief Commissioner also warned of strict action against those who violate waste disposal rules. Rao stated that if anyone is found littering in public places, the matter should be immediately reported to the Corporation officials. He confirmed that strict penalties will be imposed on those violating the regulations.
