Congress Accuses BJP of Distributing Party Pamphlets During Voter Drive in Jayanagar

A political controversy has erupted in the Jayanagar area of Bengaluru, Karnataka, after the Congress party accused the BJP of distributing promotional pamphlets featuring prominent party leaders during a government-run Special Intensive Revision (SIR) registration. The incident has sparked a significant political row in the locality and resulted in a formal complaint being submitted to the authorities.
In a letter sent to the authorities, former Congress MLA Soumya Reddy alleged that a BJP-appointed Booth Level Agent (BLA) was caught distributing the promotional pamphlets alongside a government-appointed Booth Level Officer (BLO). The alleged incident occurred while the official registration for the Special Intensive Revision was actively underway in the area.
The matter came to public attention after a video purportedly showing the distribution of the pamphlets went viral on social media. The video footage reportedly shows a man, identified as Chandrashekar Patil, who is a BJP-appointed Booth Level Agent, distributing the pamphlets to individuals. According to the allegations, Patil was accompanied by the government-appointed Booth Level Officer, identified as D P Soumya, at the time of the incident.
The pamphlets in question carried the images of several senior BJP leaders. These included Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, Jayanagar BJP MLA C K Ramamurthy, and Govind Naidu, the former corporator of Jayanagar East.
The Congress party’s complaint has raised questions regarding the conduct of the political agent and the government official during a state-run exercise. The authorities are now being urged to look into the matter following the submission of the formal letter by the former MLA.
