DJ Halli Head Constable Assaulted Near Mehkri Circle After Intervening in Public Nuisance

A head constable attached to the DJ Halli police station was assaulted by an unidentified suspect near Mehkri Circle, within the RT Nagar police station limits in Bengaluru, late on Friday night. The victim, identified as Vijay Rathod, sustained injuries to his head, hands, and legs during the incident, which occurred after he attempted to stop a public nuisance.

According to the police, Rathod was returning home on his two-wheeler after completing his duty at the DJ Halli police station. As he was traveling, he noticed a man creating a public nuisance near Mehkri Circle. Rathod decided to stop his vehicle and approach the man to intervene and stop the disturbance.

Upon being approached, the suspect suddenly attacked the policeman. The assailant inflicted multiple injuries to Rathod's head, hands, and legs before fleeing the spot.

Following the attack, the injured policeman was rushed to a nearby hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment at the medical facility. According to police reports, Rathod is said to be out of danger.

In response to the incident, the RT Nagar police have registered a case of attempt to murder based on a complaint. The police are currently hunting for the suspect. Officials stated that they are yet to identify the accused and are actively analysing CCTV footage from the vicinity of Mehkri Circle to trace the suspect.
