Driver flees with Rs 13,000 cash and diesel from Bidadi petrol bunk

An unidentified motorist snatched Rs 13,000 in cash from a petrol bunk attender and fled after refueling his car at the Indian Oil Petrol Bunk near Kadumane Cross in Bidadi, Bengaluru, on Monday afternoon. The incident, which took place around 4:40 PM, has led to a police investigation into the theft.

The complainant, 30-year-old Usha, who is a resident of Sheshagirihalli in Bidadi, was working as an attender at the fuel station when the suspect arrived in a red car. According to the police complaint, the man first parked his vehicle at the bunk and went to the washroom. After spending approximately 10 minutes there, he returned to his car and requested Rs 2,000 worth of diesel.

After the fuel was filled, the driver kept his car's ignition running. He claimed that his UPI application was not functioning properly and took a photograph of the petrol bunk's scanner QR code. He told Usha that he would send the image to a friend to make the payment on his behalf.

While Usha was distracted and filling fuel into other vehicles, the suspect suddenly snatched Rs 13,000 in cash directly from her hand. He then immediately sped away from the petrol bunk in his vehicle.

Police officials reported that the suspect is estimated to be around 30 years old. He drove a red car that had a Kerala registration plate, though the complainant was unable to note down the complete registration number before he sped away. The suspect reportedly spoke to Usha in Malayalam and English during their brief interaction.

Following the incident, a formal complaint was registered by Usha. Local police officers are currently reviewing the CCTV footage recorded by the cameras at the petrol bunk to identify the vehicle and track down the accused.
