Family alleges negligence after 12-year-old dies at Bannerghatta Road school

A 12-year-old student died after collapsing inside his classroom at New Blossom School in Weavers’ Colony on Bannerghatta Road, south Bengaluru, leading to allegations of school negligence after his family viewed CCTV footage of the June 10 incident. The family of the deceased boy, Arhan Pasha, has accused the school staff of failing to provide timely medical intervention that could have saved his life.

The incident, which took place on June 10, initially appeared to be a death due to natural causes. However, the matter came to light more than a month later after the family obtained and viewed CCTV camera footage from the school premises.

According to the family, the CCTV footage shows Arhan, a class 5 student, informing his teacher that he was feeling unwell. After speaking to the teacher, he returned to the classroom, where he collapsed on his bench moments later.

The family alleged that school authorities failed to respond promptly to the emergency. Instead of immediately shifting the unconscious boy to a hospital, school staff reportedly moved him from one room to another. The family claimed that the staff kept Arhan inside the school premises for nearly 45 minutes before informing his parents.

By the time his parents rushed to the school, Arhan had allegedly already died. The family further claimed that the school management did not provide its vehicle to transport the child to a hospital, forcing them to carry his body on a motorcycle. Upon arrival at the hospital, doctors declared that the boy had already passed away.

Following the discovery of the CCTV footage, the family has accused the school management of negligence. An Unnatural Death Report (UDR) has been registered at the Konanakunte Police Station. The local police stated that further action in the case will be taken after they receive the official post-mortem report.
