Fire breaks out at Ashok Nagar apartment near Garuda Mall after suspected LPG blast

A fire broke out in a residential apartment building near Garuda Mall in the Ashok Nagar area of Bengaluru on Tuesday afternoon, following a suspected LPG cylinder explosion that triggered widespread panic among local residents.

Emergency response officials received an alert about the blaze at the G+3 apartment building at approximately 3:23 PM. As the fire intensified, thick smoke and flames spread rapidly through parts of the structure, prompting panic-stricken residents to quickly rush out of the apartment complex to safety.

According to preliminary findings by the investigating authorities, the fire originated in a top-floor apartment that was occupied by a family of four. Officials suspect that a gas leak occurred while the family was cooking, which caused the LPG pipe to catch fire. The flames then quickly spread to the cylinder itself, triggering the suspected explosion.

Despite the rapid spread of the fire and the resulting heavy smoke, the family of four managed to evacuate the top-floor flat safely, avoiding any injuries.

Firefighters arrived at the scene and successfully doused the flames, averting a major disaster in the residential building. Following the incident, police personnel from the Ashok Nagar police station visited and inspected the affected apartment. This inspection was conducted to assess the extent of the property damage and to determine the exact cause of the explosion.

Local authorities confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported from the incident. A further investigation into the suspected LPG cylinder explosion and the subsequent fire is currently underway by the police.
