Four Dead in Kottigepalya Residence in Suspected Murder-Suicide

Four members of a family were found dead at their residence in Kottigepalya, under the Kamakshipalya police station limits in Bengaluru, on Saturday morning in a suspected murder-suicide. Police suspect that a 34-year-old man fatally attacked three of his family members before taking his own life on July 11, 2026.

The deceased have been identified by the police as Mangalamma, aged 55, Nanjamma, aged 65, and Satish, aged 50. The fourth deceased person was identified as Prashanth, aged 34.

According to the police, preliminary investigations suggest that Prashanth, who worked as a driver, fatally attacked the other three family members before his own death. The Kamakshipalya Police initiated an investigation immediately after visiting the scene on Saturday morning.

The family members lived together in the Kottigepalya house. Police stated that Prashanth lived with his parents, his grandmother, and his maternal uncle. Among the deceased, Mangalamma was employed as a worker in a garment factory, Nanjamma worked as a civic worker, and Satish was a plumber by profession.

Prashanth’s father, Chikkanna, who survived the incident, stated that there had been no prior arguments or disputes within the family on the previous night. Chikkanna had left the house for work on Saturday morning before the incident occurred. He told investigators that he was unable to explain what could have triggered the violent event.

Bengaluru West Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Yatheesh N. confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and that all aspects of the case are being thoroughly examined. He added that investigators are also looking into reports suggesting that Prashanth had been experiencing mental health issues.

Forensic experts also visited the residence to examine the premises and collect evidence as part of the official inquiry. The Kamakshipalya Police have registered a case regarding the incident. Officials stated that the exact circumstances and sequence of events leading to the deaths will be determined once the forensic examinations and police investigations are completed.
