Four-year-old Sangeetha injured in stray dog attack in Sahakara Nagar

A four-year-old girl was seriously injured after being attacked by a pack of six stray dogs near the indoor stadium in CQAL Layout, Sahakara Nagar, in Bengaluru on Sunday evening. The incident, which occurred around 4:30 p.m., has sparked significant concern and outrage among local residents over ongoing safety issues in the neighborhood.
The victim, identified as Sangeetha, belongs to a family of construction workers from Yadgir. She was walking on the road near the local indoor stadium when the pack of stray dogs suddenly targeted and pounced on her.
According to CCTV footage of the incident, the pack of six dogs attacked the young girl suddenly, causing her to suffer severe injuries. Hearing the child's cries, nearby residents rushed to the spot and managed to rescue her from the aggressive animals.
Sangeetha was immediately taken for medical treatment. According to sources, the child has already received two injections and is currently undergoing treatment. The dogs bit the young girl in multiple locations across her body, including her hands, legs, and face.
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Bengaluru North City Corporation.
Following the attack, local residents expressed severe anger toward civic authorities. Community members alleged that they had repeatedly filed complaints with the corporation regarding the rising stray dog menace in CQAL Layout but received no effective response. Residents stated that the presence of these aggressive dogs has created a hostile environment, posing a major safety threat to young children and elderly citizens.
In response to the incident, officials from the corporation's animal husbandry department visited the Sahakara Nagar site to inspect the area and gather details about the attack. Civic officials have since assured the aggrieved residents that measures will be implemented at the earliest to control the stray dog menace in the locality.
