Hiriyara Jaatre 2026 to Host 800 Senior Citizens at Kadubeesanahalli on Sunday

Around 800 senior citizens from 40 old-age homes across Bengaluru will gather at New Horizon Gurukul School in Kadubeesanahalli on Sunday, October 4, 2026, for Hiriyara Jaatre 2026. The annual elders' festival is organised by V The Volunteers (VTVO) through its Elders' Adda Cause initiative.

The day-long programme is scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m. and will run until 5:00 p.m. More than 800 volunteers will be on hand throughout the day to support the participating seniors.

First launched in 2017, Hiriyara Jaatre is designed to bring elderly residents living in care homes together for community-led activities. The event schedule features a variety of games, sports competitions, live entertainment, and cultural performances.

Organisers highlighted that the festival is intended to ensure senior citizens take an active part in festivities rather than watching from the sidelines. The programme aims to celebrate their inclusion through interactive events and friendly contests.

"For one day, the elders are not spectators. They are the participants, performers, competitors, and centre of the celebration," the organisers stated regarding the upcoming event in Kadubeesanahalli.
