K-RIDE Invites Tenders for Rs 200 Crore Suburban Rail Depot in Soladevanahalli

The Rail Infrastructure Development Company (Karnataka) Limited (K-RIDE) has floated a tender for the construction of a train maintenance depot in Soladevanahalli, Bengaluru. The project, which is part of the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project (BSRP), is estimated to cost Rs 200 crore.
The proposed Soladevanahalli depot will support the operations and maintenance of trains running on major suburban rail corridors. Specifically, the facility will serve the Baiyappanahalli–Chikkabanavara and Heelalige–Rajankunte routes, including corridor 4 of the network.
To prepare for the construction, K-RIDE has already acquired 26 acres of private land required for the facility. The completed depot will feature stabling lines, workshop lines, and dedicated inspection and repair bays.
The facility will also include a fully automated coach washing plant. Designed as a sustainable project, the depot is set to incorporate solar power generation systems alongside rainwater harvesting infrastructure.
This infrastructure push follows a recent work order placed by K-RIDE with the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. The order was issued for the procurement of 153 coaches to be used for the Bengaluru Suburban Rail Project.
