KSOU Opens Admissions for 75 Courses in 2026-27 July Cycle

The Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) has commenced admissions for its academic year 2026-27 July cycle, with applications open until September 15. Speaking at a press conference in Mysuru on Thursday, KSOU Vice-Chancellor A P Gnana Prakash announced that students can apply for approximately 75 different courses, including 10 online programmes, with no increase in the admission fees for this cycle.

The university expects to secure around 50,000 enrollments for the July cycle, alongside an additional 30,000 admissions specifically for its online courses. The university offers a variety of University Grants Commission (UGC) approved undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as postgraduate certificate programmes, undergraduate diplomas, and certificate courses.

Among the degrees open for admission are BA, BCom, BBA, BCA, BSW, BLISc, BSc-General, BSc-IT, MA, MCJ, MCom, MLISc, MCA, MSW, MSc, and MBA. For the Bachelor of Education (BEd) programme, selection will be conducted through a Common Entrance Test (CET), for which 500 seats have been sanctioned. Additionally, research scholars can pursue PhD programmes in 26 different courses, and various skill development courses are also available.

A key feature of this admission cycle is the lateral entry option. Aspirants who could not complete their degree due to various reasons can continue their education by joining directly in the second or third year through lateral entry.

Vice-Chancellor Gnana Prakash noted that under current UGC norms, students are permitted to study one full-time course and another course through distance education simultaneously. He highlighted that the university allows students to avail higher education at a lower fee structure, confirming there is no increase in the admission fee.

For students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, admission is provided on the condition of a refund of the fee amount.

To facilitate learning, students can access course materials and details through the KSOU Academic platform app. They can also listen to lessons through the university's YouTube channels, and utilize the physical library and e-library facilities.

The announcement was made in the presence of Registrar S K Naveen Kumar, Dean M Ramanathaiah, Financial Officer Niranjanrao Urs, and Basavegowd Biradar.
