Law Student Dies After Being Stabbed by Former Boyfriend's Brother in Kodihalli

A law student died on Wednesday, three days after she was stabbed near her residence in the Kodihalli locality of Bengaluru by her former boyfriend's brother. The victim, identified as Amrutha, had recently decided to end her relationship after discovering that her former partner had concealed his previous marriage and child.

Amrutha, who was pursuing her law degree, also worked part-time at a pizza outlet. The violent attack occurred on July 13 near her residence in Kodihalli. Following the stabbing incident, she was immediately rushed to a hospital with critical injuries. She remained hospitalised and underwent medical treatment for three days before succumbing to her injuries on Wednesday.

According to investigators from the Bengaluru Police, Amrutha had been in a relationship with Dhanush, whom she initially met through a family acquaintance. She decided to end the relationship after learning that Dhanush had concealed his divorce and the fact that he had a child.

Following the breakup, Dhanush's brother, Surya, allegedly threatened Amrutha over her decision to call off the relationship. On July 13, Surya confronted Amrutha near her home in Kodihalli. An argument broke out between them, during which Surya allegedly stabbed Amrutha in the chest and back before fleeing the scene of the crime.

Amrutha was left with severe injuries and was hospitalised immediately. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals over the course of three days, she passed away from her injuries on Wednesday.

The Bengaluru Police have since arrested the alleged attacker, Surya, along with his brother Dhanush. A case has been registered against both men, and a police investigation is currently underway to gather more details about the crime. Meanwhile, Amrutha's body has been sent to CV Raman Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
