Lokayukta complaint filed against Rajajinagar MLA S Suresh Kumar over contract bias

Lokayukta complaint filed against Rajajinagar MLA S Suresh Kumar over contract bias

An advocate filed a complaint with the Karnataka Lokayukta on Thursday against Rajajinagar MLA S Suresh Kumar, alleging irregularities and bias in the awarding of infrastructure contracts. The complainant, Surya Mukundaraj, accused the MLA of using his influence to benefit a select group of contractors.

Speaking to the media after filing the complaint, Mukundaraj alleged that funds allocated under the Chief Minister Infrastructure Grants were diverted to development works in parks and other locations, rather than being used for road upgrades in Rajajinagar. He claimed that six major contracts awarded between 2020 and 2026 were given to "benami" contractors linked to Suresh Kumar. Mukundaraj has requested the anti-corruption ombudsman to order an official investigation into these alleged irregularities.

Suresh Kumar strongly dismissed the allegations, describing the complaint as a politically motivated attempt to defame him. The MLA announced that he would formally respond to the allegations made in the complaint within two days. He also stated that he would request the Lokayukta to investigate the motive behind the complainant's action.

Suresh Kumar defended his record by highlighting his long career in public service, noting that he has been in politics since 1983. He stated that the people of Rajajinagar are well aware of the development works undertaken during his tenure, both as an MLA and previously as a BBMP corporator.

The MLA emphasized that over more than four decades in politics, he has never interfered in contract works, either directly or indirectly. He added that he does not have the mindset to cause financial losses to the civic body or the state government.
