Metro contract worker dies of electric shock near Trinity Metro Station

A contract labourer died on Friday afternoon after suffering an electric shock during excavation work near Pillar No. 153, outside the Trinity Metro Station in Bengaluru. The incident occurred at 3:52 p.m. while the worker was carrying out earth pit excavation for Namma Metro pillar lighting works.

The deceased worker was an employee of M.R. Electricals, which is the contractor entrusted with executing the lighting works for the Namma Metro pillars. The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) confirmed the details of the incident.

According to the BMRCL, the labourer came into contact with an electric source while performing the earth pit excavation work. The contact resulted in a severe electric shock. Immediately following the accident, the worker was rushed to the emergency ward of a private hospital. However, doctors at the medical facility declared him dead on arrival, as stated in an official release.

In the wake of the fatal accident, BMRCL officials stated that the exact cause of the electric shock is yet to be determined. A detailed investigation has been initiated by the authorities to ascertain the precise circumstances that led to the death of the contract worker outside the station.
