Minor fire on signboard at Nagasandra Metro station causes panic

A minor fire broke out on a signboard at the Nagasandra Metro station on the Green Line in Bengaluru on Sunday, triggering panic among commuters. No casualties were reported in the incident, which occurred near the station's emergency exit.

The fire was first noticed at approximately 1:30 p.m. Metro station staff immediately rushed to the spot and attempted to contain the flames using portable fire extinguishers.

The fire and emergency services received an alert about the incident at around 1:40 p.m. Personnel from the Peenya Fire Station rushed to the metro station with a water tanker and successfully extinguished the flames.

According to the police, passengers were prevented from heading towards the signboard as a precautionary measure while the situation was being brought under control.

In an official statement, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) confirmed the incident.

Bagalagunte police officers visited the metro station and conducted an inspection of the scene. A senior police officer stated that BMRCL officials did not wish to lodge a formal complaint, as there was no major loss reported during the incident.
