A 20-year-old youth was killed with a rock during a drunken brawl inside a public park in Rajyotsavanagar, Kumaraswamy Layout, Bengaluru, in the early hours of Sunday. Following the incident, the police arrested one suspect, identified as 27-year-old Venkatesh, while a search remains underway for a second accused individual.

The victim, identified as Rakesh alias Rocky, was a resident of Rajyotsavanagar. Rakesh earned his living by running a local roadside food stall in the neighborhood. According to police investigators, the fatal confrontation took place shortly after Rakesh closed his food stall on Saturday night.

At around 12:20 AM on Sunday, Rakesh and two of his friends entered a park located near his house. The trio sat inside the park and began consuming alcohol together. As they were drinking, an argument broke out among the three men.

The verbal dispute quickly turned violent. Police stated that during the altercation, one of the accused punched Rakesh in the face. The attacker then picked up a rock and smashed Rakesh's head with it. The impact of the blow killed the 20-year-old on the spot. Following the attack, both of the accused fled the scene, leaving Rakesh's body in the park.

The incident was discovered on Sunday morning when local residents visited the park for their morning activities and found Rakesh's body. They immediately alerted the police, who arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation.

The police subsequently arrested Venkatesh, who works as a hotel helper and resides in Kumaraswamy Layout. Venkatesh is originally a native of the Bengaluru South district.

The Bengaluru police are continuing their efforts to trace the second accused who was present at the park. Authorities noted that the exact motive behind the argument and subsequent murder is yet to be ascertained.
