Pakistani woman and son arrested in Chikkaballapur for overstaying and illegal ID cards

The Karnataka Police on Saturday announced the arrest of a Pakistani woman and her son in Dasayyagaripally village, located in the Bagepalli taluk of Chikkaballapur district. The duo was arrested for overstaying their visas and illegally obtaining Indian identity documents, such as a voter card and a ration card, without acquiring Indian citizenship.

The accused individuals have been identified as Farhanaz and her son, Mohammed Fardeen Khan. According to the police, the case was registered against the mother and son following a formal complaint filed by the Bagepalli Tahsildar, Manisha N Patri.

In the complaint, Tahsildar Patri stated that Mrs. Farhanaz, who is married to Mohammad Ayub Khan, and her first son Mohammad Fardeen, are Pakistani nationals residing in Dasayyagaripally village. The complaint highlighted that they had illegally registered their names to obtain a voter identity card and a ration card without obtaining Indian citizenship, which is illegal under current regulations. Consequently, legal action was sought against them for possessing these documents.

Police investigations revealed that Farhanaz had married Ayub Khan, a resident of Dasaragere village. The couple has two children. While Ayub Khan is currently employed as a bus driver in a Gulf country, Farhanaz and the children had been residing in the village of Dasayyagaripally even after their visas had expired.

The police are also investigating whether the visa renewal for the mother and son was blocked due to the central government's measures regarding Pakistani nationals following the 2025 Pahalgam attack.

A police officer confirmed that they are currently verifying the validity of the identity documents. The police are also investigating how these documents were obtained, who facilitated their issuance, and are thoroughly examining the immigration status of both individuals.
