RPF Launches Drone Surveillance at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station

On Friday, July 17, 2026, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of the Bengaluru Division officially introduced a drone surveillance system at the KSR Bengaluru Railway Station. The new aerial technology is designed to provide real-time monitoring of railway stations and other vulnerable locations across the division to enhance overall passenger safety and protect valuable railway assets.
Ashutosh Kumar Singh, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of the Bengaluru Division, inaugurated the Drone Surveillance System on Friday. During the launch event at the station, Singh personally assessed the operational capabilities of the drone. According to railway officials, the DRM's evaluation included reviewing the quality of the aerial footage captured by the device, testing its built-in surveillance features, and checking its operational range.
The RPF personnel selected to operate the new surveillance drones have completed specialised training to prepare for their roles. This training was conducted at the Karnataka State Police Remote Pilot Training Institute. Having successfully completed the program, these selected personnel are now certified drone operators.
According to the Railways, the surveillance drones will be deployed at major railway stations and other sensitive locations across the entire Bengaluru Division. Officials noted that the technology is expected to improve crowd management during peak travel seasons and special events. The system will also enhance the general surveillance of railway premises through continuous, real-time aerial monitoring.
By utilizing aerial surveillance, the RPF aims to gain a broader vantage point over crowded platforms and tracks. With the inauguration complete, the certified RPF drone operators are prepared to begin active monitoring duties, utilizing the real-time aerial footage to coordinate security responses and manage passenger flow more effectively during high-traffic periods.
