Shwetha Detained in Puducherry Over Triple Murder of Her Family in Bengaluru

The Bengaluru police have detained a woman near a bus stand in Puducherry in connection with the murder of her parents and younger sister at an apartment in Seegehalli. The family, who had previously received bank recovery notices at their home in Marathahalli, was allegedly targeted between Sunday and Monday over mounting debts and relationship disputes.
The detained suspect, Shwetha, had been missing along with her live-in partner, Kenneth, since the bodies of her parents, Somasundar and Muthulakshmi, and her younger sister, Supriya, were discovered at Sai Green Apartments. While Shwetha is being brought back to Bengaluru to be produced before a court for police custody, Kenneth remains at large. Police search operations are underway across Karnataka and neighbouring states.
According to police investigators, the sequence of events began on Sunday when Muthulakshmi visited Shwetha at the apartment. Investigators suspect Muthulakshmi was killed during this visit following an argument over Shwetha's relationship with Kenneth.
On Monday, Somasundar and Supriya were reportedly lured to the flat separately and arrived around 7 p.m., where they were also attacked. Somasundar managed to escape the apartment after being stabbed, running outside to seek help from residents and security guards. He was rushed to a hospital by members of the public but later died from his injuries. Post-mortem reports indicated that all three victims suffered multiple stab wounds.
Prior to the incident, the family had experienced severe tension over financial issues. Shwetha had reportedly borrowed nearly Rs 30 lakh through a bank loan and defaulted on repayments, prompting recovery notices to be sent to the family's house in Marathahalli.
Shwetha and Kenneth, who met while studying engineering, both worked in the software sector. They had been living together in the rented Seegehalli apartment for about two months while working remotely. Kenneth's family told investigators they were unaware he was in Bengaluru, as he had informed them he was working in Hyderabad.
