Six Booked For Blocking Ambulance With Motorcycle Stunts Near Yeshwanthpur

The Bengaluru police have booked six individuals, including five minors, for allegedly performing dangerous motorcycle stunts and blocking the path of an ambulance carrying a critically ill patient on Tumakuru Road near MEI Junction, close to the Yeshwanthpur Railway Station. The incident occurred at approximately 2:30 am on July 4.

The police initiated the case after the ambulance driver lodged a formal complaint on Tuesday, which coincided with a video of the reckless riding going viral on social media.

According to the complaint, the accused were performing wheelies and riding recklessly on the busy stretch of the road, directly obstructing the emergency vehicle as it attempted to transport the patient to a hospital.

To identify the riders, investigators analyzed CCTV footage from the area. They first identified one of the minors, who was seen recording the stunts on a mobile phone while riding pillion. Based on information provided by him, the police traced the remaining five accused and seized the three motorcycles involved in the incident.

The police identified the only adult rider in the group as Sadiq Pasha. During police interrogation, the accused claimed they failed to hear the ambulance's siren. However, investigators refuted this claim, noting that the ambulance’s dashcam footage clearly showed the riders refusing to give way and continuing to obstruct the emergency vehicle.

The seized motorcycles belonged to the parents of the accused. The police have served notices to the vehicle owners, summoning them for questioning and further legal action regarding the use of their vehicles.

The five minors have been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board, where they are scheduled to undergo counselling as part of the legal process. Legal proceedings against Pasha are being pursued under relevant provisions of the law.

During questioning, the group reportedly admitted to performing such motorcycle stunts on a regular basis. The police noted that some of the accused work at a local garage, while others are employed at a coffee vending shop and a fish mart. One of the accused is a student. Further investigation is currently underway.
