Swiggy Instamart and HPCL Partner to Launch On-Demand LPG Delivery in Bengaluru
Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Swiggy Instamart have partnered to launch India's first on-demand LPG cylinder delivery service on a quick commerce platform, starting in Bengaluru. The service allows residents in the city to order cooking gas cylinders directly to their doorsteps without requiring a pre-existing domestic connection.
Under the new initiative, Bengaluru consumers can purchase the HP Navya, which is HPCL's 10 kg composite LPG cylinder, as well as the company's 5 kg metal LPG cylinder through the Instamart platform. The partnership aims to make on-demand cooking gas options available to a wider range of consumers, particularly benefiting students, working professionals, and smaller households in the city.
For first-time buyers, purchases will be processed as new cylinder acquisitions. This initial transaction requires a one-time identity verification, with proof-of-delivery documentation built directly into the delivery process. For subsequent transactions, customers can place refill orders by returning their empty HPCL cylinder to the delivery agent at the time of delivery.
The ordering process will be hosted on the quick commerce platform, but the actual fulfillment and deliveries will be managed by HPCL's authorised distributor network. Trained personnel from these distributors will handle the transport and delivery of the cylinders to ensure safety and reliability standards are met.
Amitesh Jha, CEO of Instamart, noted that the platform has expanded its consumption use cases beyond groceries to become a part of everyday life. He stated that the partnership with HPCL extends that convenience to an essential household service while maintaining the safety and reliability standards that consumers expect.
Amit Garg, Director-Marketing at HPCL, stated that the partnership will allow the oil marketing company to reach customers through a fast, convenient, and digitally enabled platform, making the HP Navya Composite LPG Cylinders more accessible while enhancing the overall customer experience.
