Teacher S Radha dies after falling from Rapido bike taxi in JP Nagar

A 54-year-old school teacher died after falling from a Rapido bike-taxi at Nandini Junction on 24th Main Road in the JP Nagar area of Bengaluru late Sunday night. The victim, identified by authorities as S Radha, was a resident of the Arakere locality and worked as a teacher at Delhi Public School (South).
According to police officials, the incident occurred around 8:00 p.m. when Radha was traveling back to her home. She had spent the evening visiting her friends and relatives in the Nagarabhavi area and decided to book a ride on the app-based bike-taxi service, Rapido, to commute back to Arakere. The ride-hailing platform assigned a female driver, referred to by the police as a lady captain, to transport her.
The journey proceeded until the motorcycle reached Nandini Junction, which is located on 24th Main in JP Nagar. At this point, Radha, who was riding pillion on the two-wheeler, reportedly lost her balance. Police noted that she was sitting "side-saddle" at the time, which means she was positioned with both of her legs on one side of the motorcycle.
As Radha lost her balance and fell from the moving vehicle, a melee ensued on the road. The sudden disruption caused the lady captain operating the bike-taxi to also lose control and fall from the two-wheeler.
An investigating officer stated that both Radha and the lady captain were wearing half-helmets during the ride. Despite wearing the helmet, Radha sustained deep and severe injuries on her nose and her forehead during the impact of the fall. These injuries resulted in critical internal bleeding.
Immediately following the accident, Radha was shifted to a nearby private hospital to receive emergency medical care. However, she was unable to recover from the severe trauma and succumbed to her injuries while at the medical facility.
