Three arrested after motorist assaulted on Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway

A 37-year-old motorist was chased, intercepted, and violently assaulted in front of his family near the Madduramma temple on the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway around 10:00 PM on Sunday. The incident, which was sparked by a minor vehicle collision, has led to the arrest of three suspects by the Maddur Rural Police.
The victim, M Sagar Kumar, was traveling with his wife and young son when the confrontation began. According to the police, the trouble started after a minor collision occurred between Sagar Kumar's car and another vehicle near the Srirangapatna toll plaza.
Although the dispute initially appeared to have been settled, a group of five men chased Sagar Kumar's vehicle. They eventually overtook and blocked his car near the Madduramma temple, under the Maddur Rural Police limits.
Sagar Kumar alleged that the five men blocked his path, hurled abuses, damaged his car, and threatened his family.
Dashcam footage recorded by a passing motorist showed the group surrounding the vehicle, dragging Sagar Kumar out, and repeatedly kicking and punching him. One of the attackers was also seen striking him with what appeared to be a metal object.
During the assault, Sagar Kumar's wife stepped out of the car to plead with the attackers to stop, while their young child remained inside. The violence only ended when other passing motorists intervened to pacify the situation.
Following the spread of the video on social media, the Maddur Rural Police arrested three of the accused men and seized two vehicles. Officers are currently conducting search operations to trace the remaining two suspects who are currently absconding.
The violent encounter has sparked fresh safety concerns on the access-controlled expressway. Police personnel noted that higher vehicle speeds, aggressive overtaking, and growing traffic volumes have contributed to frequent confrontations after minor accidents.
Senior police officials have urged motorists involved in minor accidents not to retaliate or engage in arguments. They advised drivers to stay inside their vehicles if threatened, call the police immediately, and install dashboard cameras to help identify offenders.
