UP Warriorz Buys Sophie Molineux for Rs 1.1 Crore as RCB Misses Out at WPL Auction

Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru missed out on re-signing Australian skipper Sophie Molineux at the WPL Auction 2027, with the player moving to UP Warriorz for Rs 1.1 crore. The winning bid made Molineux the most expensive acquisition of the auction.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru head coach Malolan Rangaranjan addressed the bidding outcome, stating that the franchise did its best to bring Molineux back into the squad. The Australian captain had previously featured in RCB's maiden title victory.
Despite the setback in retaining Molineux, Royal Challengers Bengaluru secured four players during the auction to bolster their roster. Among the new additions was Australian all-rounder Jess Jonassen, who was signed by the franchise for Rs 40 lakh.
Molineux's move to UP Warriorz concluded the competitive race for her signature, leaving the Bengaluru side to prepare their title defence with the four new additions brought into the squad.
