VTU Declares Engineering Exam Results Five Minutes After Final Practical Exam

On Tuesday, June 30, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) established a new academic record by declaring the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and Bachelor of Technology (BTech) sixth-semester examination results just five minutes after the final practical exam concluded across Karnataka.
The rapid declaration of results for 60,856 students was made possible through the university's fully integrated digital evaluation system. The results were jointly released by VTU Vice Chancellor Prof S Vidyashankar and Registrar (Evaluation) Prof U J Ujwal, recording an overall pass percentage of 76.84 percent.
The final practical examination concluded at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and the university published the complete results online by 5:35 p.m. This milestone completed the entire academic evaluation cycle 21 days earlier than the previous academic year.
According to VTU officials, the fast turnaround was achieved through digital integration and meticulous scheduling. The sixth-semester theory examinations were conducted between May 18 and June 17. Because VTU utilizes a fully digital evaluation system, all theory papers were scanned and evaluated online by professors, with the marks locked into the university's central software weeks ago.
For the practical phase, which ran from June 18 to June 30, internal and external invigilators were instructed to enter practical and viva marks directly into the secure VTU digital portal immediately after each student finished their lab exam on Tuesday.
At 5:30 p.m., the software compiled the pre-existing theory data with the freshly submitted practical marks, auto-generating the final marksheets within five minutes.
Vice Chancellor Vidyashankar stated that the initiative was part of an ongoing tech-driven effort to eliminate students' anxiety about long waiting periods, which directly impacts their higher education and placement timelines. He congratulated the VTU administrative staff, the examination section, and the affiliated college faculty for their cooperation.
Registrar (Evaluation) Prof U J Ujwal added that adopting digital evaluation and preparing to announce results quickly made this achievement possible.
