Whitefield Man Defrauded of Over ₹7 Lakh After Son Shares OTPs With Online Gamers

A 46-year-old private firm employee residing in Nallurahalli, Whitefield, was defrauded of ₹7,46,591 after online fraudsters manipulated his minor son into sharing one-time passwords (OTPs). The incident, which took place on April 9, 2026, led to the registration of a formal complaint with the local cybercrime authorities.

The victim’s son was reportedly playing online games on his father's smartphone when he was contacted by two individuals. The suspects introduced themselves to the child under the names Vinayak Yadav and Yesh Pal.

During their interaction, the accused allegedly convinced the minor to log into various email accounts using the complainant’s mobile phone. Once access was gained, the suspects instructed the boy to share the OTPs that were being received on the device's mobile number.

According to the Whitefield Cyber Economic and Narcotics (CEN) Police, the fraudsters utilized these shared OTPs to secretly set up and activate an unauthorized AutoPay facility on the complainant’s bank account.

The victim was entirely unaware of the setup until the suspects successfully debited a total of ₹7,46,591 from his bank account through the unauthorized facility.

After discovering the massive financial loss and the unauthorized transactions on his account, the father immediately approached the Whitefield CEN Police Station. He filed a formal complaint seeking legal action against the perpetrators and the recovery of the stolen money.

Based on the victim's detailed complaint, the police have officially registered a First Information Report (FIR). The case has been filed under Sections 66C and 66D of the Information Technology Act, as well as Sections 318(4) and 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The Whitefield CEN Police stated that a further investigation is currently underway as officers work to track down and apprehend the accused individuals.
