Woman Arrested in Puducherry for Triple Murder of Family Members in Seegehalli

The KR Puram police have arrested 24-year-old S Shwetha near the Puducherry railway station for the triple murder of her parents and her younger sister at her apartment in Seegehalli on Monday. The victims, 52-year-old software engineer Soma Sundar, his wife, 48-year-old Muthulakshmi, and their 19-year-old daughter, Supriya, resided in Whitefield, where loan default notices for Shwetha had recently been sent.

According to the police, Shwetha and her 26-year-old boyfriend, Kenneth, fled the scene after the murders. The duo went to the residence of Kenneth's friend in HAL and escaped on a two-wheeler. They travelled to Thiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu, but after the motorcycle encountered a mechanical problem, Kenneth sent Shwetha on a bus towards Puducherry. Shwetha was subsequently arrested at the railway station, while Kenneth remains at large. Six police teams have been formed to search for him across Tamil Nadu.

During interrogation, Shwetha reportedly confessed to the killings, expressing deep resentment towards her parents. She told the police that she was frustrated, was not allowed to do anything on her own, and that her life was ruined by her mother. Investigators also recovered a diary belonging to Shwetha, in which she wrote about feeling lonely, sad, and depressed due to her parents' strong opposition to her relationship with Kenneth.

Shwetha claimed she killed her mother first while Kenneth was in the room wearing headphones. According to her confession, Kenneth helped her pull Muthulakshmi's body into the washroom and clean the bloodstains after the murder.

When Muthulakshmi failed to answer her phone, her husband Soma Sundar and daughter Supriya came to the Seegehalli flat to find her. Shwetha stabbed Supriya when she started searching for her mother, and then stabbed her father when he entered the flat.

Before his death, Soma Sundar managed to give a statement to the police, which officials expect to be crucial evidence. In his statement, Sundar alleged that Kenneth had attacked them with a knife.

Investigators revealed that both Shwetha and Kenneth had recently resigned from their jobs at a private firm to start a business venture. Shwetha had accumulated loans worth approximately Rs 30 lakh, leading to the default notices being sent to her parents' Whitefield home.
