Passenger on Tracks at Indiranagar Metro Station Disrupts Purple Line Services

Namma Metro train services on the Purple Line were temporarily disrupted on the morning of October 30 after a passenger entered the tracks at the Indiranagar metro station. The incident prompted transit officials to trigger emergency protocols, and the passenger was safely rescued.
According to the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the event occurred at 9:22 a.m. Officials responded by activating the Emergency Trip System (ETS) and the Emergency Stop Plunger (ESP) as a precautionary safety measure to halt approaching trains.
Following the rescue of the passenger, train services along the Purple Line corridor experienced delays of approximately 10 minutes. The unexpected halt created a backlog of passengers during the busy weekday morning commute.
The disruption also impacted interconnected transit operations elsewhere on the network. A few trains on the Green Line were regulated to prevent overcrowding at the Kempegowda Majestic interchange station, where thousands of commuters transfer between the two lines.
Morning peak-hour commuters faced brief travel delays, particularly those travelling along the Purple Line and passengers transiting through the Majestic interchange. BMRCL confirmed that normal train operations across both the Purple and Green lines were restored by 9:40 a.m.
